Who We Are
Minimize

Sydney Christian Fellowship is a group of Christians who meet from all over Sydney and who share a hope for the unity of the Body of Christ. The leadership desires, like the apostle Paul, 'that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus' (Colossians 1:28). We believe the foundations of the Christian walk include: faith towards God, repentance, baptism in water and in the Holy Spirit (Hebrews 6:1-2) and the establishment of Godly order in the home and in the church.

Our testimony is that the gospel is able to restore each person to their predestination. Our faith is that, correspondingly, the body of Christ will be restored to the Lord's intended glory – 'the manifestation of the sons of God' (Romans 8:19). SCF is part of an international fellowship of churches that shares the same vision of unity and restoration.

'Until we all come... to the measure of the fullness of the stature of Christ...'

Ephesians 4:13

SCF is part of a national fellowship of around 25 churches and has international connections with Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Pakistan.

Our Beginnings
Minimize

Sydney Christian Fellowship began amidst the renewal movement of the 1970s.  As churches around the nation began to grow in their understanding of 'first love' (Revelation 2:4) and 'Ephesian Pattern' (Acts 20:17-38) at that time, the seed of the Sydney fellowship was planted and our connections with other restoration churches across the country has remained firmly in place to this day.

Our Goal
Minimize

Goal?  What would be the goal of a Church?  We believe it is to make clear - through teaching and practical demonstration - the new life offered by Jesus Christ, the rich and enduring relationships we can have with God and our family and friends,  the active care one for another, and responsible participation in the community.

Church Life & Fellowship
Minimize

The church meets for a weekly one-hour worship service every Sunday (two locations - Leumeah & Wahroonga) followed by all-age teaching sessions, and twice a month in homes for informal Bible study and discussion. Young people from age 12-25 meet most Saturday nights in Teens or Young Adults groups.  Our day-to-day life is one of sincere friendship, practical care and spiritual encouragement.

SCF is a close-knit 'family of families', but does not have a closed membership.  All are welcome.

Our Structure
Minimize

Our overall structure is one in which local, citywide churches in various towns and cities maintain active connection by supporting one another and sharing ministry. We focus on the basic New Testament teachings, and are part of a global movement seeking the restoration of the vitality of the early-day church.

Our public worship is a balance of modern and traditional styles, suitable for all ages.

Our leaders are not ordained by an institution, but are appointed on the basis of specific needs or skills – whether for youth work, pastoral care, administration, teaching, worship, and so on. Most leaders have secular employment, although a number of couples are in full-time care of the church.
